OUR MISSION is to improve the built environment of communities in need. We facilitate the design and construction of health, education and community projects primarily in Australia and the Asia Pacific region and more recently in East Africa.

PROJECTS Through a range of culturally sensitive and environmentally sustainable projects, Architects without Frontiers has helped change the lives of over 3000 people in five significant ways. We have:

  1. Delivered 43 health, education and community projects in 14 countries
  2. Collaborated with 35 communities to improve their social and physical infrastructure
  3. Partnered with over 60 Australian architects in delivering pro-bono design services
  4. Helped to facilitate funding for 20 projects for communities in need, in partnership with agencies including the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, City of Melbourne, Northern Territory Government, ARUP, Cotton On Foundation and RMIT University
  5. Trained 80+ Australian architects to work in the humanitarian sector, in association with the Australian Red Cross and Australian Institute of Architects.

About the role

Architects without Frontiers Australia (AWF) is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic person to join our team and play a vital role in ensuring the future growth and excellence of the organisation. AWF has enjoyed a fantastic period of growth and change in recent years, mostly due to the support of our dedicated Partner Network. We are keen to see this positive momentum maintained and increased.

The AWF Finance Coordinator will be responsible for all financial duties associated with the organisation. Working hours are flexible but are estimated to require on average 2 – 4 hrs per week.

The role will report directly to the Executive Director and the AWF Chair and board.

KEY DUTIES

  1. Financial Administration
  • Administer the end to end accounting cycle, including:
    • Monthly invoicing and payment requests
    • Donation receipting
    • Process payments in accordance with budget and the approvals process
    • Bank Reconciliations
    • Payroll (potentially)
    • Payments receipt tracking
    • Quarterly BAS Lodgement
    • Superannuation
  • Tracking of budget line items and contingency allocations.
  • Preparation of quarterly Financial Statements for the Board, including summary page and excel formatted Income Statement v Budget, Quarterly Budget, Annual Forecast.
  • Presentation of Financial Statements and financial issues to the Board.
  • Preparation of Annual Budget.
  • Collaborate with the executive directors regarding the annual Financial Framework.
  • Provision of financial information to the Executive Directors as requested.
  • Coordination with external accountant on the Special Purpose Financial Statements.
  • Coordination and administration of the annual Audit Review.
  • Provide guidance to the organisation on financial issues as they arise.
  • Adherence to the AWF Financial Policies and Procedures.
  • Administration of banking facilities.
  • Attendance to any other financial matters that arise
  1. Other Activities
  • Administration of AWF profile and annual statements on the ACNC.
