About the organisation
At TerraCycle, our mission is to Eliminate the idea of Waste®. As a global innovator in the circular economy, our specialities lie in recycling hard-to-recycle materials. Our programs collect and recycle almost any waste stream such as babies nappies, cigarette butts, cosmetics, wetsuits etc which we then turn waste into new products, like the world's first shampoo bottle made with ocean plastic!
As a social enterprise, we drive positive change by partnering with some of the world’s largest corporations to create collection and recycling solutions for hundreds of traditionally non-recyclable waste streams. This has seen us engage over 80 million consumers, to raise $44 million for charities and recycle over 1 million pounds of waste. In 2019, TerraCycle was Fortune Magazines “Top 10 Companies to change the world”.
More recently, we launched the zero-waste retail platform “Loop”, a global circular shopping system that enables brands, retailers and consumers to transition from single-use disposable materials to reusable, durable packaging. Loop will be launched in Australia in partnership with Woolworths in Q4 2021/Q1 2022.
About the Team
You will share TerraCycle’s mission to make waste a thing of the past. You’ll be joining a thriving, purpose-driven team in our waste-free, Sydney office. You’ll be an advocate and agent for change, who can work autonomously, while also collaborating with a tight-knit team of eco-warriors.
About the role
You will lead TerraCycle ANZ’s marketing, communication and customer service team (currently seven members), ensuring strategic goals that support various areas of the business and brand are met, and that all elements work together for maximum efficiency and impact. There will be opportunities to grow the team in line with business success.
Marketing
- Oversee marketing and communication campaigns for TerraCycle, its programs and its products.
- Ensure marketing activities are aligned with business goals, and report on ROI.
- Lead marketing associates.
Public Relations
- Strategise and plan campaigns.
- Proactively work to increase TerraCycle’s share of voice in targeted media and through conferences/speaking opportunities.
- Give media interviews as required.
- Lead PR associate.
Customer service
- Ensure continuous improvement of customer service standards.
- Lead customer service associate.
Branding
- Work with global peers to ensure consistency of brand and co-ordination of effort on shared campaigns.
- Manage visual identity for ANZ activities.
Strategic relationships
- Leverage our partner network and channels to promote TerraCycle programs and products, including identifying new partners.
Other
- Occasionally representing TerraCycle at recycling and circular economy networking opportunities and events, possibly in a speaking capacity (industry training provided).
- Recruit and on-board new Marketing/PR team members as needed.
- Regularly meet online with teams/organisations from foreign markets (i.e. America or Europe) during non-business hours.
Requirements
- Minimum ten years’ experience in marketing communication, with a working knowledge of media relations, brand management and digital marketing. Ideally at least some of this will have been gained in FMCG.
- Minimum three years’ experience managing a multi-disciplinary team including PR and marketing.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills.
- Proven ability to create, manage and report on comprehensive and effective communication and marketing strategies.
- Proven ability to assess and order priorities, juggle multiple tasks, anticipate/plan ahead and project manage in a highly changing environment is a MUST.
