OUR MISSION is to improve the built environment of communities in need. We facilitate the design and construction of health, education and community projects primarily in Australia and the Asia Pacific region and more recently in East Africa.

PROJECTS Through a range of culturally sensitive and environmentally sustainable projects, Architects without Frontiers has helped change the lives of over 3000 people in five significant ways. We have:

  1. Delivered 43 health, education and community projects in 14 countries
  2. Collaborated with 35 communities to improve their social and physical infrastructure
  3. Partnered with over 60 Australian architects in delivering pro-bono design services
  4. Helped to facilitate funding for 20 projects for communities in need, in partnership with agencies including the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, City of Melbourne, Northern Territory Government, ARUP, Cotton On Foundation and RMIT University
  5. Trained 80+ Australian architects to work in the humanitarian sector, in association with the Australian Red Cross and Australian Institute of Architects

 

About the role

Architects without Frontiers Australia (AWF) is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic person to join our team and play a vital role in ensuring the future growth and excellence of the organisation. AWF has enjoyed a fantastic period of growth and change in recent years, mostly due to the support of our dedicated Partner Network. We are keen to see this positive momentum maintained and increased.

The AWF Projects, Administration and Policy Coordinator will have a key role in managing AWF’s projects and network partners and the day to day operations of the organisation supported by the Executive Director, along with contributing to higher level strategic planning around expanding AWF’s reach and impact. They will also provide guidance and identify challenges and opportunities to improve efficiency across the administrative support functions.

The role will report directly to the Executive Director and the AWF Chair and board and work closely with the Communications Coordinator.

KEY DUTIES

  1. Project Management
  • Provide general project management assistance to the Executive Director, Chair of the AWF Board and the AWF Board;
  • Undertake research and prepare briefs for all possible AWF projects with clients in line with AWF policies;
  • Manage current and former AWF projects with respective community and design stakeholders and network partners;
  • Coordinate consultation on AWF projects;
  • Liaise with AWF Network partners re new and former projects; and
  • Report to AWF ED and Board on progress of projects on fortnightly basis.
  1. Planning and administration
  • Provide general administrative assistance to the Executive Director, Chair of the AWF Board and the AWF Board;
  • Maintain general oversight and ensure accuracy of compliance and governance;
  • Be responsible for logistics and scribing of board meetings, including collation and distribution of documents;
  • Be responsible for scheduling of weekly team meetings with the ED including prioritisation of activities; and
  • Assist in development of processes, policies and tools to improve company efficiency and risk management.
  1. AWF Partner Network
  • Assist the ED and Communications Coordinator in maintaining and managing relationships with the partner network, including managing network partner agreements, assisting in organising network events and maintaining communications; and
  • Work with the Finance Officer in financial management of network partners
  1. Marketing and PR
  • Liaise with ED and Communication Coordinator as required to maintain positive online presence, including briefing them about AWF projects suited to publicity;
  • Provide information for and fact check social media posts and website stories.
