About the role
The role: Reporting to the Program Manager, this ongoing part-time role (0.8 FTE) will deliver services to Early Years Services across Melbourne’s east and south east regions. You would be responsible for:
- Supporting teachers and educators to provide safe and supportive learning environments for children who have experienced trauma.
- Providing clinical support and advice to teachers, educators and families to promote trauma informed relationships.
- Providing support strategies within the kindergarten to create connection and defuse conflict.
- Developing plans which support children to develop pro-social skills including emotional and social regulation.
- Supporting referrals to relevant services to support children and families experiencing vulnerability.
Knowledge, Experience & Requirements:
- A tertiary qualification in social welfare such as Social Work or Psychology, with eligibility for membership of professional organisation (i.e. AASW or APS) or other qualifications suitable for practice in the child and family welfare field.
- A minimum of 5+ years’ experience in providing high quality, complex case management to children, youth and families in the context of violence or abuse and trauma.
- Travel is required – must hold a current drivers’ license and willing to use own vehicle.
- Demonstrated knowledge of best practice models and theories relating to children, families, trauma and violence or abuse.
- Demonstrated experience in translating relevant and emerging knowledge and theory into practice.
