About the role
The Opportunity
Through maximising the development and promotion of direct fundraising programs, you will be supporting Cancer Council ACT’s services which provide information and support to people experiencing cancer, promote early detection and awareness and fund important research.
Your focus on coordinating fundraising programs will enable Cancer Council ACT to provide services that increase the quality of life to people experiencing cancer and fund research to ensure a cancer free world. This includes coordinating the income and profitability of current and future donors and bequests.
This is an exciting time to join Cancer Council ACT, as they are in the rebuilding phase after a restructure, which will allow them to expand on programs and services to better support the Canberra community. Your role will be key in helping support this growth through innovative fundraising.

Duties
You will work across the donor development spectrum from strategies that lead to the engagement of new supporters, extension and conversion of current donors, and overall supporter engagement and satisfaction.
- Process donations from all fundraising income streams and respond to enquiries, requests, and donations
- Maintain relationships with suppliers and community members, and monitor any contractual requirements with external suppliers
- Ensure donors receive personalised acknowledgment letters, thank you phone calls, and correct receipts
- Maintain data entry accurately and monitor the data integrity
- Manage various programs which include Donations, Gifts in Wills and in Memory donations
Your Background and Experience
You have a sense of charity, while the idea of making a difference to people’s lives is very appealing to you. You will have excellent communication skills including empathy, and active listening skills.
You will have strong skills within the Microsoft suite of products, experience with working with a Customer Relationship Management tool and the ability to learn new systems quickly and efficiently.
Experience working with not-for-profit organisations is highly desirable.
