About the role

The Health Issues Centre (HIC) is the peak consumer health advocacy body in Victoria. They seek to deliver positive health outcomes with and for consumers by influencing health policy, service design and health and medical research. HIC relies on deep and broad engagement with consumers, with an emphasis on those who are most vulnerable and marginalised, to inform its policy positions and priorities. They deliver skills-based training, consultancy services and research to clients across the health industry and their goal is to create a better healthcare system that serves people, not institutions. They do this by listening; through mediating crowd conversations, extracting insights from the white noise, and using human-centred design to create people-centred solutions.

Reporting to the CEO, and leading a small team, the Social Enterprise Manager is a commercially responsible role, tasked with developing and retaining business with new and existing clients, and consultatively providing solutions, social research, training and advice. The Social Enterprise Manager will manage the commercial consulting arm of the Health Issues Centre, developing a strong pipeline of new opportunities, maintaining excellent relationships with clients, and ensuring quality and excellent outcomes across the entire project lifecycle. You will take an active interest in health initiatives, policy and networks, enjoy community engagement, and solving complex problems.

You will work closely with the marketing team to develop branding and marketing material that will drive new business, create opportunities and promote existing projects and partnerships. HIC also runs accredited training modules and workshops and this will form a key aspect of the new business development pipeline. This important and hands-on role requires a self-motivated people leader with experience in leading the full cycle of management consulting within the health sector from prospect research, enquiry, proposals and tenders, through to project development, design, delivery, quality assurance, reporting and beyond. Through leading impactful projects and people, you will deliver extraordinary outcomes for clients and position HIC as a trusted partner to solve complex problems. You will build the systems, processes, team, training programs and solutions to be a profitable, competitive and highly-regarded consultancy practice that provides excellent service, plus generates significant profit for purpose. You will be a confident communicator, a natural influencer and values driven leader, with strong commercial nous, and passion to make a difference.

You will be a proven leader of high performing teams, and your experience will highlight a proven success in consulting, familiarity with the health system and an understanding of contemporary health issues. Health Issues Centre actively promotes diversity and inclusion and is an equal opportunity workplace. We welcome applicants from all diverse backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and people with disabilities. Flexible work options and salary packaging benefits are available when you join this innovative not-for-profit organisation.
