About the organisation
Leadership Plus is a busy disability advocacy organisation, funded through the National Disability Advocacy Program (NDAP). The organisation provides individual advocacy and also works on some systemic matters. We receive funds for projects including:
- NDIS appeals work - to ensure people with disability have independent assistance to pursue their entitlements under the The National Disability Insurance Scheme Act 2013.
- The Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability (Disability Royal Commission DRC) – to assist people to understand the role of the DRC and to share their story with the DRC
- Decision Support – working with adults with disability, under 65, to make decisions regarding the NDIS.
About the role
We are looking for an experienced community worker who will be the first point of contact for people seeking advocacy assistance from our agency. Strong interpersonal communication skills are necessary. This work requires a commitment to social justice and human rights, with a sound understanding of social inclusion and community participation. This role is currently working remotely. We have a Melbourne office and provide services throughout Victoria. This is a full time contract position that is ongoing subject to Department of Social Services funding through the National Disability Advocacy Program. The position is currently funded through June 30, 2022. Further extension is likely but not guaranteed and so the position will be contracted for that duration.
