About the role

Group Facilitator

Road Trauma Support Services Victoria is looking for a local experienced group facilitator in the Shepparton area who can work with people who have traffic-related offences or at risk of and where participants are diverse in their demographics and offending behaviour.

This role requires experience with a therapeutic groupwork background as one of our ongoing programs is within Dhurringile Prison

As the work is casual and mostly after hours, this can be done on top of current work.

This role will also deliver programs to a range of community-based groups in road safety prevention.

These positions require people to have had experience working in groups. Group facilitators need to create a safe space to allow participants to openly share their driving behaviour and work on ways to prevent risky driving.

The road trauma/safety programs aim to bring about attitude and behavioural change and reduce risky driving recidivism. They are based on restorative justice principles Narrative and experiential learning using ‘lived’ experienced speakers

The program aims are to:

· Confront and evaluate participant belief systems regarding traffic-related offending

· Bring about a shift from blame to choose

· Assist participants in identifying and managing precursors to offending

· Provide peer discussion and problem-solving

· Provide reality-based learning using lived experience
