Gymnastics Australia (GA) is the national governing body for gymnastics within Australia. Established in 1949, Gymnastics Australia’s Vision is that Every Australian life is enriched by gymnastics. Encompassing seven gymsports, being the Olympic disciplines of Women’s and Men’s Artistic, Rhythmic and Trampoline Gymnastics, as well as Aerobic Gymnastics, Acrobatic Gymnastics and Gymnastics for All, gymnastics provides opportunities for all Australians.

Gymnastics Australia is committed to driving a safe and empowered environment, protecting children and young people from harm. We require all applicants to undergo an extensive screening process prior to appointment, a process that may include, but is not limited to, comprehensive reference checks, an identity check, a ‘working with children’ or equivalent check and/or a ‘national criminal history record’ check. What is Gymnastics Australia looking for in their Chief Executive Officer?
An inspirational leader who, in working closely with the Board, can create a clear vision and direction that ensures the effective operationalisation of the Gymnastics Australia strategic plan. This will be in  line with its Vision and Purpose, and the Gymnastics in Australia Strategic Framework.

The CEO will lead and develop a strong culture within the Gymnastics Australia paid and volunteer workforce, and drive engagement with a range of key sector stakeholders nationally and internationally. This will include ensuring organisation wide constructive collaboration with association members and clubs.
 
Key Performance Areas:

  • Work collaboratively with Association Members with a view to building partnerships to deliver a relevant value proposition and efficient service delivery for clubs and individual members
  • Lead the response to the AHRC Change the Routine Report including oversight of all initiatives and activities stemming from the Report response and liaison with key external stakeholders, including Sport Integrity Australia and the National Sports Tribunal
  • Effective management and mitigation of strategic, operational, financial, legal, reputational and regulatory risks across the organisation
  • Drive the transformational cultural change strategy in close liaison with all stakeholders and audiences
  • Lead the GA Executive Leadership Team, ensuring strong communication and awareness of organisation wide objectives, priorities and projects between all departments.

 The ideal candidate will have;

Essential

  • Experience in a recent senior leadership role within a domestic and/or global sports organisation
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or post-graduate management qualifications or similar experience
  • Working with Children Check and National Police Check.

Experience

  • Significant knowledge and applied experience within the Australian Sport System or equivalent and relevant global experience
  • Demonstrable experience of leading, managing and developing high performing management teams to deliver consistently over time
  • Experience and evidence of developing and implementing strategies that provide competitive advantages to sport through application of innovative and creative solutions
  • Understanding and experience in relation to integrity and inclusion factors, particularly in relation to protecting children and young people from harm, in the context of both participation and high performance gymnastics.
