Compassion Australia is looking for a brilliant Communications Specialist (known internally as Narrative Specialist) for a temporary 12 month parental leave position (24 hours per week across 3-4 days with flexible working days).

If you are an experienced writer and communicator who is passionate about helping those in need, then what are you waiting for? Join the busy, fun-loving Narrative team and help us spread the word about Compassion and children living in poverty.

The successful applicant’s core responsibilities will be writing digital and traditional marketing materials, including emails, blogs and social media posts, . Other tasks as required may include writing and editing magazine and newsletter articles, video and phone scripts, radio advertisements and direct mail copy.

The successful applicant will possess the following:

  • Bachelor Degree in communications, marketing or similar discipline
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and proofreading skills, as well as a strong understanding of the technical aspects of writing for digital platforms (e.g. SEO, accessibility)
  • Substantial experience in communications or relevant field across both digital and traditional platforms
  • Ability to work productively to deadlines within a team environment
  • Creative thinking, ideation and problem-solving abilities
  • Professional experience writing for a range of social media platforms, including Facebook and Instagram
  • Excellent critical thinking skills and the ability to interpret technical information for a general audience
