The Organisation:
The Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency (VACCA) is the largest organisation of its kind in Australia.  VACCA is an Aboriginal community-controlled organisation that supports and advocates for the Aboriginal community.  The team is committed to the organisation’s vision and values, advocates for children and other vulnerable community members, and shows respect for, observance of and compliance with, Aboriginal cultural protocols, practice and ceremony.

 

The Role:
The Employee Relations Manager position is accountable for the management of all employee relations matters and investigations at VACCA.  As a subject matter expert, you will support and coach leaders and Human Resources Business Partners on complex performance management, disciplinary issues and investigations.  You will also provide organisation-focused, compliant and pragmatic interpretation of employment legislation, along with tailored and appropriate advice.

This position plays a critical role in establishing and building relationships across the business to enable the provision of high-quality HR services to build capacity and challenge thinking, while keeping a strong people focus.
Reporting to the Human Resources Manager you will:
  • Work with a wide range of employees from a variety of backgrounds and at all levels of VACCA, provide expert HR knowledge and advice along with the ability to execute operationally and think strategically
  • Provide support and advice to managers, and engage with employees through a pragmatic and consultative approach
  • Ensure that VACCA complies with relevant employment legislation, including the Fair Work Act and relevant Awards and accreditation standards as they pertain to HR
  • Provide strategic and operational advice to the Human Resources Manager on employee relations matters and ensure development and alignment of HR’s operational plan with VACCA’s strategic plan
  • Ensure the development and continuous improvement of HR tools, policies and procedures

The Person:

You’ll be driven and passionate about building capability within your team. In addition, you possess:
  • Tertiary qualifications in human resources management, industrial / employment law or a related discipline, and/or substantial experience in these fields
  • Expertise in developing great working relationships, gaining trust and respect
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills
  • A proven ability to work as part of a leadership team within the Agency
  • Demonstrated high levels of discretion and integrity

The Offer:

A competitive salary of up to $115K plus superannuation is on offer and attractive PBI/NFP packaging is also available. This is a full-time, permanent position.
