Head of Major Gifts

Social Ventures Australia (SVA) is a not-for-profit organisation that works with partners to alleviate disadvantage – towards an Australia where all people and communities thrive.  SVA influences systems to deliver better social outcomes for people by learning about what works in communities, helping organizations be more effective, sharing our perspectives, and advocating for change.
  
Philanthropy is key to ensuring the future sustainability and growth of SVA through developing trusted relationships and networks with funders. Reporting to the National Director, Fundraising & Partnerships, you will play a key role in generating significant income for the work of SVA, and managing SVA’s relationships with key donors, private ancillary funds (PAFs) family foundations and other high-value funders across Australia. You will achieve income and impact through prospect research, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship, along with excellent acquisition, pipeline development and moves management to underpin best practice and high performance. 
  
You will be a collaborative, authentic and solution-focused fundraiser with proven success in securing transformational gifts and multi-year pledges for complex and innovative projects. You will have excellent communication skills to confidently present opportunities with detailed research, data, evidence and professional proposals is essential, together with compelling story-telling to effectively connect heads and hearts of decision-makers to secure investment.
  
Commercial acumen, commitment to continuous improvement, people management skills, and a growth mindset is required. This role calls for current knowledge of the philanthropic landscape in Australia, confidence to make ‘the ask’ and the ability to engage diverse stakeholders, plus strong alignment to SVA’s values of accountability, integrity, respect, and humility. Relevant tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, Fundraising or Social Impact is desirable.
