Brave Mentors are based around Australia and operate online delivering our virtual program to teens parents who are isolated by geography or circumstance.

The Social Economic Empowerment Department (SEED) is powered by Brave Foundation, its learnings and experience. SEED is the pioneering and innovative division of Brave. 

SEED has the bold aim of creating a pre-social services sector that ultimately see’s Australia lead the world in social economic empowerment for our citizens, through systemic change. 

About the role

ABOUT THE ROLE

Brave Foundation has successfully secured funding from federal and state governments and important philanthropic partners and as a result is now in a strong position to further build the capability of the organisation with the appointment of a new Head of Transformation.

The Head of Transformation will have a pivotal role in establishing Brave as a Centre of Excellence for programs related to expecting and parenting young people in Australia.

Working as a member of the Brave Foundation Senior Leadership team and drawing upon organisational expertise, you will be instrumental in supporting Brave to develop an evidenced based compelling case for sustainable funding for government and other partners.

You will lead a small team and will coordinate continuous improvement initiatives and establish Brave’s new Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning function. Leading the work to refine our Theory of Change, you will ensure Brave is able to generate and leverage the research and data required to support our goal of becoming a Centre of Excellence. You will establish and refine our ways of working to enable Brave to enhance and learn from our core program and build and maintain relationships that support the needs of young parents.

Initially work will be focused on leading a suite of continuous improvement initiatives that have been designed to improve the quality of Braves core program ‘Supporting Expecting & Parenting Teens’ (SEPT).

You will work at both a strategic and operational level, to ensure activities are planned and progressing in line with Braves strategic goals and vision. You will be adept at influencing and at harnessing the knowledge, time, and efforts of others to achieve outcomes for the benefit of the young people and communities we serve.

This position is full time (negotiable), fixed term contract. The Head of Transformation will ideally based in Melbourne, Australia, however Brave is open to and supports flexible working arrangements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead suite of continuous improvement initiatives and pilots that harness the expertise and insights of the Brave program team and support Brave to increase impact and outcomes for the benefit of young parents
  • Work with the Head of Strategic Alliances to identify and develop new partnerships and to develop an evidenced based, compelling case for sustainable funding.
  • Research, design and build the business case for Brave’s model for a Centre of Excellence.
  • Monitor and report on progress and impact of a program of initiatives to both internal and external stakeholders including the CEO, Board and funders.
  • Ensure new initiatives are identified and implemented, contributing to overall quality of Brave’s core program, supporting Brave’s mission and deliver improvements for expecting and parenting teens.
  • Lead small team of specialist advisors to develop Braves Centre of Excellence.
  • Work closely with the SEED team to ensure insights and learnings are exchanged.
  • Manage contractual obligations in line with funding requirements as they related to Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning including the design and implementation of an independent evaluation of Braves program.
  • Participate as a collaborative member of the Brave Senior Leadership team.

KPI’S AND OUTCOMES

  • Design and implement a program to establish Brave’s Centre of Excellence, meeting time and budget and scope requirements.
  • Lead delivery of improvement initiatives ensuring qualitative and quantitative KPI’s are met and that productive relationships are formed with internal and external stakeholders.

K E Y S E L E C T I O N C R I T E R I A

ESSENTIAL

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role with particular focus on Centers of Excellence and building an evidence based case for funding.
  • High level project management skills with experiencing in managing and delivering cross functional projects.
  • Experience developing business cases for transformation initiatives.
  • Demonstrated stakeholder relationship skills including with experience in building trust and creating effective structures to negotiate with and influence diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Ability to address issues strategically and delegating effectively to ensure project success.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills including ability to tactfully negotiate in complex situations.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills – use conceptual thinking and sound analytical approaches to support decision making.
  • High emotional intelligence and accountability.

DESIRABLE

  • Understanding and experience in designing and implementing Centers of Excellence within a community services setting
