Parramatta Holroyd Family Support Inc. (PHFS) is a community-based family support service for families in the Parramatta and Holroyd local government areas. The Department of Community Services has funded the organisation since 1978.

 

PHFS provides an efficient, preventative service to families who seek support to improve their well-being. They address issues such as child development and behaviour, parenting strategies, strengthening parent / child relationships, social isolation and family violence. The centre provides a variety of services for families, including information, referral, community development, counselling, support services, home visits and group work.

About the Program

The Targeted Early Intervention (TEI) program is funded through the Department of Communities and Justice. PHFS is funded to provided services under the Wellbeing and Safety Stream. Client engagement in the TEI program is voluntary. PHFS provides support to families with children 0–12 living in designated areas of the Parramatta and Cumberland LGAs. Through case management, home visiting, groupwork, counselling, advocacy, referral and young parents’ programs, PHFS works with children and families to respond to and provide support for identified issues.

About the Opportunity…

This new position is a key part of the leadership team at PHFS, comprised of the Executive Officer, the Staying Home Leaving Violence Team Leader and the Office Manager.

 

This role leads a team of experienced caseworkers, groupworkers and counsellors while maintaining a limited caseload under the TEI program. You will also contribute to the evaluation and monitoring of the TEI program as well as schedule and facilitate casework allocation meetings, and TEI program team meetings to name just a few tasks.

 

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Human Resources Management
  • Case Management
  • Policy and Practice
  • Quality Improvement

 

The position is Part Time at 28 hours per week. Salary for this role is classified at level 6 in the NSW SCHADS Award (Pay Point to be determined based on experience). The role is based in Pendle Hill but supports clients and attends meetings in the Parramatta & Cumberland LGA; therefore, some travel may be required.

 

 

What you’ll need to succeed…

You will be an experienced leader with a strong background in strengths-based, client-centred, trauma-informed practice. Your knowledge of child protection, family support, counselling and domestic violence work accountabilities with be sound.

 

You will also have an ability to understand funding requirements and manage data and reports.

 

Selection Criteria…

  • Tertiary qualifications in social work, social welfare, or health-related field, and/or a good track record in direct service and team management in the social welfare/health sectors.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication and people management skills, with experience overseeing a team with diverse roles.
  • Knowledge of NSW Department of Communities and Justice TEI framework, outcomes-based practice and reporting requirements.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of casework practice and key functions of case management including child protection, child development, mental health, domestic violence and other intersectional aspects.
  • Proven problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify issues, risks and opportunities.
  • Experience in consultation and working collaboratively with team members and clients.
  • Personal and professional commitment to the PHFS Vision, Purpose and Values and working within a strengths-based, trauma informed framework.
  • Understanding and commitment to supporting Aboriginal and CALD families, ensuring a culturally responsive approach.
  • Confidence and experience in online client information management systems, including managing people’s personal information, in particular the Data Exchange and Office 365.
  • A sound understanding of not-for-profit governance.
  • Current driver’s licence and comprehensively insured vehicle
  • Working With Children Check (WWCC) (or willingness to obtain)
  • Police Check (or willingness to obtain)
