About the organisation
Family & Relationship Services Australia (FRSA) is the national representative body for the family and relationship services sector. FRSA works collaboratively with its member organisations, government agencies and the broader community to promote effective support to children, families and communities.
About the role
FRSA is delivering a 12-month pilot of Community of Practice (CoP) sessions for providers delivering family and relationship services under the Department of Social Services’ Families and Children Activity. The pilot will run from 1 July 2022 to 30 June 2023.
Under the guidance of the Manager, Policy and Research, the Project Officer will coordinate and deliver CoP online discussions with service providers delivering family and relationship services under the Department of Social Services’ Families and Children Activity.
The objectives of this project are to:
- enable sharing of information, experience and practice knowledge amongst providers to develop their knowledge, skills and capabilities.
- encourage innovative thinking that arises through shared experience and learning.
- identify challenges common across providers that may require external input/support.
- provide a foundation for the formation of longer-term collaboration between providers to build capability in the sector.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Project Officer will be responsible for:
- establishing CoP groups and maintaining contact lists for CoP participants;
- developing and disseminating materials related to the CoP sessions including background briefs, discussion questions and summary notes;
- facilitating online CoP discussions;
- progressing actions arising from CoP discussions;
- maintaining day-to-day contact with CoP participants such as responding to queries and circulating resources;
- assisting with the evaluation of the CoP pilot;
- undertaking related tasks, as required.

Essential criteria
- Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication
- Demonstrated facilitation and stakeholder engagements skills
- Demonstrated organisational and administrative skills, including excellent computer skills using the suite of Microsoft office products, including Microsoft Teams
- Capacity to work with limited direction and prioritise tasks
- Ability to work professionally as part of a small team in a positive and supportive manner
- Must hold (or apply for) a Working with Vulnerable People card (or the equivalent card depending on state/territory).
Highly regarded criteria
- Experience working in a member-based peak body
- Understanding of and experience in community services / for-purpose sector
- Experience supporting or facilitating communities of practice.
