Creative, connected advocate with strategic approach, operational drive + relationship builder.
This community based, non-government organisation represents all Queenslanders who are unable to enjoy the benefits of a healthy life due to the presence (or threat) of liver disease.
Providing unique resources and absorbing health information, it delivers projects that drive change. Also part of its scope is to ensure access to medical treatment and advise on the best ways for people to manage their own wellbeing. But ‘getting through’ can be quite tough going with generally negative public attitudes to liver health and viral hepatitis.
So the initial challenge will be to formulate a ‘think outside the box’ approach to de-stigmatising liver conditions – at the same time educating people about living with hepatitis and how they can access this organisation’s unique outreach programs.
Through a superlative balance of strategy, can-do operational strength, collaboration and perseverance, the present CEO has done an amazing job, ably backed by a supportive Board with a governance focus. But now, with scientific advances and other legislative forces shifting the landscape in which this non-profit sits, it’s time to ride the changes.
To bring this organisation onto higher ground, maintain its positive internal culture and build on its many strong existing partnerships, you’ll need acute business acumen and ingenuity to devise clever and original ways to adapt and pivot in a relentlessly changing environment.
It’s also essential you ‘get’ governance and are used to working closely with Boards. You need to be skilled at the diversification of funding sources, be financially, data and IT savvy, bring entrepreneurial knowhow and have excellent influencing skills. Accounting knowledge with an in-depth understanding of budget forecasting and accountability will be a real bonus.
A compassionate pragmatist with a friendly can-do approach, you have admirable soft skills that enable you to relate with all people at all levels and a smooth leadership style that inspires others to want to be part of your team and work in support of your plans.
Bring these skills, plus ideas, energy, an open mind and experience in building/marketing a brand for your chance to secure this wonderfully worthwhile and fulfilling leadership role.
