About the role
THE POSITION
Reporting to the Director, the Account Director is responsible for overseeing client projects and nurtures relationships with clients. You will plan projects, coordinate various teams, and manage budgets to reach their client’s goal by coordinating the end-to-end delivery of multi-channelled direct marketing campaigns to acquire and/or retain donors for our clients, focusing on individual direct response fundraising. This role will be responsible for implementing campaigns through omni-channel best practice.
Account Director responsibilities include:
- Planning budgets and activities for account management
- Setting up goals and objectives for all subordinate staff
- Providing feedback and counsel to account staff to meet quotas/objectives
An effective Account director has great aptitude in building and maintaining client relationships. They also possess excellent planning and leadership abilities to coordinate and advise other team members and executives.
The goal is to ensure the company’s retention of clientele and facilitate further growth.
YOU
- Plan budgets and activities for account management
- Set up goals and objectives for all subordinate staff
- Provide feedback and counsel to account staff to meet goals
- Conduct performance evaluation using key metrics
- Serve as the point of contact for clients in your portfolio
- Understand client requirements and needs to offer suitable solutions and retain existing business
- Ensure the timely delivery of services and products to clients
- Resolve issues to maintain and strengthen customer trust
- Read reports of subordinates and communicate overall quarterly/annual progress to senior management and external stakeholders
Requirements and skills
Overview
- Proven experience as an account director or similar position
- Demonstrable experience in negotiation and meeting client requirements
- Solid understanding of budgeting and reporting on progress
- Knowledge of performance evaluation techniques and metrics
- Working knowledge of MS Office and/or relevant software (e.g. JIRA)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities with aptitude in fostering long-term relationships
- Outstanding organizational and leadership skills
Skills
- Excellent project management skills and ability to multi-task
- Strong relationship and stakeholder management skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Able to work with all Microsoft products
- Strong communications and brief writing skills
Knowledge
- Understanding of fundraising best practice and legislation (including privacy)
- Is aware of and has a working knowledge of the FIA code of conduct and fundraising principles
- Understands the critical nature of managing suppliers well across multiple channels, preference for mail house or direct marketing agency background
- Has a working knowledge of how mail houses operate
- Has a working knowledge of and has implemented digital campaigns (preferred)
Experience
- Highly analytical and results driven
- Preferred experience within the NFP sector
- Demonstrated direct marketing and or fundraising experience
- Has a working knowledge of how digital campaigns are implemented
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualified in marketing or communications; or
- Equivalent work experience
