The Organisation Every year, one in five Australians is struck down with a major brain or nervous system disorder. Neuroscience Research Australia (NeuRA) is a renowned medical research institute with world-class capabilities and expertise in neurodegenerative diseases, mental health and age-related conditions. Through leadership, excellence, and innovation in scientific research in their state-of-the-art Sydney facilities, NeuRA’s contribution to improving global health outcomes continues to grow. The Role Reporting to the Foundation’s Executive Director, this newly created role is responsible for the acquisition and stewardship of new private sector partnerships to achieve set income targets. The focus of the role is acquisition, so this role suits a ‘hunter’ as opposed to a ‘gatherer’. You will be given support and autonomy to develop avenues for corporate engagement such as licensing, donations, gifts in-kind, payroll giving, content partnerships, and more. Key responsibilities include:

  • Generate new business to support strategic research priorities
  • Create, sell and close compelling partnership proposals
  • Collaborate with the communications team, other fundraisers and the research community to build a sustainable corporate partnership program

Skills and attributes required You are a skillful and tenacious partnership manager, senior sales or business development executive, a self-starter with proven success acquiring corporate partnerships or building a sales portfolio to deliver significant revenue.  You understand the complex dynamics of multi-stakeholder organisations and possess highly developed sales, negotiation and relationship building skills. You can also demonstrate:

  • Strong project management capabilities with demonstrated ability to implement plans, timelines and budgets, and regularly communicate with stakeholders
  • Analytical skills and the business acumen to research and qualify targets, identify trends and opportunities, and respond creatively
  • The ability to develop and present compelling and customer-focused proposals to CEO or senior management level and successfully close the deal
  • Interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise and negotiate with all levels of staff and people in a wide range of business and community setting
