This role is formally based in the city of Warrnambool with travel regularly required across Warrnambool and the West Wimmera area. At the Foundation, we support our staff to work flexibly, both in location and hours, based on the premise that work will remain the focus of any arrangement. How and where you work is discussed with each staff member based on individual circumstances, role requirements and accountability for delivery of high-quality work.
About the role:
Reporting into the Trauma Consultancy Service (TraCS) Program Manager, the Child and Family Consultant will work closely with early childhood educators, teachers and staff in kindergartens and at a primary school in Warrnambool to build their capacity to work with traumatized and vulnerable children aged 3-5. This is a one year contract role (possibility of extension) and is offered part time (0.6, with possibility to increase to 0.8 FTE).
Responsibilities include:
- Provide coaching and support to early childhood educators and staff to work with children whose lives have been affected by trauma.
- Support strategies within the primary school to create connection and defuse conflict.
- Creating plans which support children to develop pro-social skills.
- Develop a service delivery plan for the implementation of the TraCS Program in the relevant kindergarten / primary school.
- Maintain accurate and up to date client management and statistical records.

Experience required:
- A tertiary qualification in social welfare, with eligibility for membership of professional organization
- Minimum 5 years’ experience providing high quality, complex case management to children, youth and families in the context of violence or abuse and trauma.
- Demonstrated knowledge of best practice models and theories relating to children, families, trauma and violence or abuse.
- Demonstrated experience in translating relevant and emerging knowledge and theory into practice.
- Hold a current drivers’ license and willingness and ability to use own vehicle (expense reimbursement provided).
