About the organisation
Refugee Legal is an independent community legal centre specialising in refugee and immigration law, policy and practice. Refugee Legal has been assisting asylum seekers, refugees and disadvantaged migrants in the community and in detention for over 34 years and has substantial casework experience and expertise. Refugee Legal’s work involves the provision of key legal assistance to people who could not otherwise obtain it due to financial and other forms of distinct disadvantage often related to their cultural or linguistically diverse backgrounds or experiences of torture or trauma. Refugee Legal also conducts extensive law reform, advocacy and education programs.
About the role
The Executive Assistant is responsible for the smooth operation of the Executive Director’s office, including the provision of high-level governance, administrative, and operational support for the Executive Director.
In particular, the role is responsible for office administration, diary management, travel planning, daily communications, meetings and other secretarial support and ensuring that the Executive Director is effectively briefed and prepared for all internal and external meetings.
The role is a critical interface with internal and external stakeholders and includes professional liaison and relationship management with a diverse range of key stakeholders, including clients, Boards, government, media, sector leaders, major donors and philanthropic foundations.
This is a diverse, hands-on role that requires the ability to manage complex and sensitive work situations with sound judgment, discretion, empathy and attention to detail.
The Executive Assistant reports directly to the Refugee Legal Executive Director.
