We are the only Australian organisation dedicated exclusively to funding emerging researchers, creating a pipeline of future research success. Our seed funding has kick-started over 534 cancer researcher careers and led to numerous global breakthroughs in cancers including brain cancer, breast cancer, immunotherapy, pancreatic cancer and childhood leukaemia. Without our funding, these discoveries may never have been made.

About the role

The Fundraising Coordinator – Community is a key role within the Fundraising Team and is responsible for driving fundraising, stewardship of the fundraisers, and community engagement, to increase income and create enduring fundraising campaigns. 

 

The Fundraising Coordinator – Community, will nurture a growing group of donors and is responsible for the growth, health and engagement of this significant community. This includes developing and updating continuously the communications plan for each donor segment. With a focus on authentic relationships and superb content, the successful candidate can build make a difference to Cure Cancer.   

 

The role will plan and coordinate the delivery of the Community Fundraising program including coordinating peer-to-peer fundraising events, managing high value community fundraisers, and coordinating local communication campaigns for key fundraising campaigns. The event aspects of the campaigns will be managed, executed and delivered by the Fundraising Coordinator – Events. Working in collaboration with clear roles and responsibilities will be critical.  

Key Tasks

  • Plan, coordinate and execute the peer-to-peer and community fundraising program to enable community supporters to fundraise for Cure Cancer in new, fun and flexible ways. 
  • Assist the Fundraising Coordinator – Events, with the effective management of the community for fundraising activations  
  • Deliver against tasks set by the Fundraising Manager for various fundraising campaigns, including the placement and sale of merchandise, campaign launches 
  • Provide support, materials, and fundraising advice to third party fundraisers, ensuring they adhere to best practice fundraising policies, and motivating them to achieve the best results. 
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community fundraisers to ensure they are empowered and supported throughout their fundraising activities. 
  • Ensure that Cure Cancer’s brand, key messages, approval, and privacy policies are applied to all community fundraising activities. 
  • Generate awareness of Cure Cancer’s work, by building relationships with local communities, health professionals, hospitals and healthcare facilities, schools, universities, corporate partners, and businesses including local Services clubs  
  • Manage all incoming enquiries regarding community fundraising over the phone and via email and follow up each fundraising event.\ Ensure regular effective communication is maintained with key supporters, donors and stakeholders. 
  • Assist in developing and nurturing relationships with local stakeholders involved with fundraising including sponsors, sponsor networks, businesses, hospitals & healthcare professionals, community ‘champions’ and volunteers. 
  • Produce reports on community fundraising campaigns to track each campaign and individual fundraiser’s income. 
  • Work with the Fundraising Coordinator – Events to recruit, manage and communicate with volunteers for fundraising campaigns & activities. 
  • Assist with other fundraising campaigns & activations as required. 
  • Achieve annual income and fundraising targets. 
  • Represent Cure Cancer at various events and activities as a Cure Cancer speaker and brand ambassador, on occasion out of hours or on the weekend (TOIL is given to compensate for irregular hours) 
  • Ensure all records are accurate and comprehensive and provide all data required for robust reporting 
  • Provide input into annual strategic planning, budget process and related activities. 
  • Undertake all training required to understand and accurately use Cure Cancer’s systems and processes. 
  • Positively contribute to an excellent high performing team culture. 
  • Comply with OH&S requirements. 

 

Experience & Qualifications 

Essential

  • Demonstrated experience in project management, comms & asset delivery, and digital campaign  
  • Stakeholder management skills and ability to build constructive and effective relationships with teams, donors and suppliers. 
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to build rapport quickly over the phone. 
  • Excellent project management skills, organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to deadlines.

Desirable

  • Experience in community fundraising 
  • Understanding of the importance of cancer research in the fight against cancer  

 

Skills & Technical Expertise 

Essential

  • Excellent telephone manner 
  • Strong presentation skills 
  • Deliver on income targets 
  • Ability to build and manage relationships with a range of stakeholders. 
  • Communicate to a variety of audiences 

Desirable

  • CRM database experience 
  • Digital campaign delivery 
  • Understanding of target audience segmentation
