About The Program

Rapid Response is part of AV’s approach to the Department of Families, Fairness & Housing’s (DFFH) state-wide initiative to support Family Preservation & Reunification (FPR). The Rapid Response team compliment a suite of family supports provided within the FPR model.

The evidence-based program aims to prevent children being placed in Out of Home Care (OoHC) by providing families with short-term and intensive (up to 15 hours per week) face to face support. A safety-focused plan is developed with child protection and the family, and provides intensive, in-home support to address the crisis. Rapid Response Practitioners focus on addressing the protective concerns utilising a strengths-based approach that incorporates coaching and role modelling to build on parental strengths, skills, knowledge and resources to increase the levels of safety within the home.

About the role

  • Lead a small team working in an Evidence Based Model
  • SCHADS Level 7, Full Time, ongoing position based in Morwell

 About The Role:

  • Lead a team in supervision, reflective practice and weekly Rapid Response Case Consultation Meetings
  • Oversee and coordinate referrals from Child Protection and ensure the Rapid Response team work collaboratively with Child Protection Practitioners and families to ensure risk assessments and safety plans are maintained and tracked utilising the Signs of Safety™ approach, including conducting joint visits with Child Protection staff. 
  • Ensure the team/s provide a targeted intervention in the family home at flexible times and when they are most receptive to learning; this may include early mornings, evenings. 
  • Fulfil program requirements regarding case recording, data collection, registration standards and other requirements such as the Rapid Response and FPR evaluations. 
  • Monitor program performance and outcomes through the collection and analysis of service data and implement changes to the operation of the program. 
  • To work in conjunction with the Program Manager and EBM Practice & Implementation. Lead to plan and implement responses in relation to program, sector and service developments. 
  • Identify performance trends, best practices, and opportunities for improvement. 
  • Contributes to the performance monitoring and reporting requirements of the Rapid Response program to ensure model fidelity. 
  • Ensure the Practitioners strengthen family connections, promoting placement prevention and the safety of children, young people and parents. 

 About You

  • Demonstrated leadership experience, supervising multi-disciplinary staff, providing coaching and feedback
  • The ability to lead reflective practice discussions and team meetings
  • Demonstrated experience in working with high needs, complex families using a child focused, family centred approach and parenting educational programs
  • Demonstrated experience working within a casework framework
  • Demonstrated understanding and application of theoretical approaches
  • Demonstrated experience in utilising culturally sensitive practice with marginalised and minority groups
  • Highly developed communication skills and an ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
  • The ability to perform work outside of standard office hours to service the needs of clients 

Qualifications:

A relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Early Childhood Specialist and/or related behavioural sciences at degree level with relevant experience; or diploma level with substantial experience.
