About the role
The Community & Sustainability Team
Our commitment to the community at Clayton Utz is important to us as a law firm, and as a business. As a business, we embrace the notion that an organisation has a responsibility to the communities in which it operates. Rather than simply meeting the basic regulatory requirements for operation, a business should also consider the ways in which its activities impact on the community in which it does business. We do this via Community Connect, all the various ways in which we can connect with different communities through volunteering programs and fundraising activities; the Clayton Utz Foundation, which provides grants to charities which have a link to the firm; our Reconciliation Action Plan, which reflects our work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples; and Environmental Sustainability initiatives aimed at reducing the environmental impact of our operations and raising awareness of sustainability issues.
Key responsibilities
In this busy and varied role, you will be responsible for:
- Day to day administration of Community & Environmental Sustainability programs, including assisting office program coordinators
- Assist coordination of Community Connect, working directly with relationship teams and not-for-profits across volunteering opportunities, fundraising initiatives, in kind support, donation drives and events.
- Assisting with the Clayton Utz Foundation Board papers, grant applications, and distribution and tracking of grants.
- Assist Reconciliation Partners and Coordinators to meet RAP targets each year and progress reporting.
- Assist in measured Greenhouse Gas (carbon footprint) assessment and annual reporting
- Assist Environmental Sustainability Committees and office coordinators nationally to support key sustainability initiatives.
Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role, you will be organised and efficient, friendly and energetic. You will be able to work autonomously, think quickly and enjoy problem solving. Specifically, you will have:
- Exemplary organisation skills and the ability to multitask
- Strong attention to detail
- A proactive work style
- The ability to ‘manage up’ and confidence in dealing with senior stakeholders
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; and
- Strong experience with Microsoft Office, especially in Outlook, as well as Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
We welcome applications from people from diverse backgrounds and encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to apply for this role.
