At Very Special Kids, we believe that all children and young people have the right to quality of life, no matter how long or short their life may be.  We provide holistic palliative care for children with a life-limiting condition and their families.  Our multidisciplinary approach includes counselling, sibling support, bereavement support and community activities, as well as respite and end of life care at Victoria’s only children’s hospice.

 

Every member of our team plays a vital role in the delivery of essential services to support the physical, mental and emotional needs of the children and families in our care, so they are always supported in the way they need it most – through life, death and bereavement.

Reporting to the Philanthropy Manager, we have a rewarding opportunity for a Philanthropy Coordinator to join us in a pivotal year of change.  You will be responsible for the stewardship, cultivation, and development of a valuable pipeline of prospects and qualified donors including Mid/Major Donors, Philanthropic Trusts and Foundations and Private Ancillary Funds.

 

Through your team’s success you will help raise funds to support children with life-limiting conditions and their families, increase awareness of the Very Special Kids purpose and services, as well as increase consumer and stakeholder engagement.

 

To be a success, you will bring:

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Experience and passion for engaging with donors.
  • Experience developing and maintaining productive and meaningful relationships with stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills that motivate, mentor and lead others.
  • Strong understanding of the philanthropic grants-making sector.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop effective proposals and grant submissions according to trust and foundation requirements.
  • CRM database experience, preferably Salesforce.
  • Efficient time and task management skills to be able to execute donor stewardship journeys and identify and pursue new and existing funding opportunities.
  • An active team player, contributing to the broader activities and functions of the Fundraising and Communications Team and the wider organisation.
  • Energy and passion for connecting prospective supporters with the work of Very Special Kids; A compassionate and socially minded individual who understands and respects the purpose and vision of Very Special Kids and the challenges associated with working within the not-for-profit sector.
  • Short courses in fundraising will be considered favourably but are not essential.
  • Prior experience in the not-for-profit or health sector is desirable but not essential.
