NFP Job Application with a Twist

A newly launched Melbourne-based Not for Profit, Smiling Mind is looking for a CEO, but the job application has a twist – part of the application process is to raise a component of their own salary for the first year!

Smiling Mind uses the internet and an App-based program developed by a team of psychologists with expertise in youth and adolescent therapy to improve the mental health of young Australians.

“The organisation needs a CEO to successfully harness the larger than expected uptake of, and interest in, this program," the co-founder of the Not for Profit, Jane Martino said.

“In recognition of the fact that very few donors or grants allow their funds to go towards administration/ infrastructure as well as the need for NFP CEO's of small organisation's to be strong in fundraising, we are advertising that it will be part of the application process to raise a component of their salary for the first year."

The unusual job application requirement is thought to be a first Not for Profit sector.

“This is a little different I know but we hope it will be seen as a positive challenge, and a comment on success and survival in the sector,” Martino said.

“The CEO of Smiling Mind will be responsible for the management and promotion of strategic objectives and will have an opportunity to make a difference on a national and even global level by further deepening relationships within health, education, government and partner organisations.”
