Alan Sweeney helps accountants to communicate numbers using visuals and data story telling. In 2006 Alan trained as an accountant in Ireland’s largest company, CRH. He has since worked across commercial and non-profit sectors. Since moving to Australia in 2009, Alan has found three new loves: Excel, data visualisation and stand-up comedy.  Through stand-up, Alan learned the craft of communication and began training accountants to present, running an in-house professional development programme at Asahi Beverages (Schweppes). Alan is the principal at Visual Finance, founded 2016. He says “an accountant’s job is to analyse and communicate the numbers, but no one teaches them the communication part. My goal is to change that.”
