About the role
We are seeking a Volunteer Media Manager to play a key role in amplifying the media coverage of our Walk to Cambodia event. Your mission? To craft media strategies, build relationships with media, pitch engaging stories and ensure our cause receives the attention it deserves.
Strategic Media Planning:
- Collaborate with our team to develop a comprehensive media strategy for the Walk to Cambodia event.
- Identify key messages and story angles to engage the media and the public effectively.
- Cultivate relationships with journalists, bloggers, influencers, and media outlets to secure coverage.
- Prepare and disseminate press releases, media kits, and promotional materials.
- Pitch captivating stories to media contacts and follow up on media inquiries.
- Coordinate media interviews and appearances for key stakeholders and event participants.
- Create compelling content, including articles, blog posts, and press releases, to generate interest.
Monitoring and Reporting:
- Monitor media coverage and prepare reports on media outreach efforts.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of media strategies and recommend adjustments as necessary.
- While prior experience in media relations or PR is beneficial, it’s not a strict requirement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must.
- You should possess strong networking and relationship-building abilities.
- Creativity and the ability to craft engaging content are highly regarded.
- Above all, a genuine passion for our mission and values is essential.

About the organisation
Australian Charity Human and Hope is dedicated to shaping a world where communities experiencing poverty are empowered and developed through locally driven initiatives.
We raise funds to support a locally-run community centre in Cambodia, enabling them to run their own poverty-alleviating projects with their local expertise.
We're gearing up for our biggest fundraising event in April 2024, the Walk to Cambodia, aimed at raising awareness and money to support our mission.
