About the role

Sands exists to ensure no parent in Australia feels alone and without hope after the death of their baby. We’re an organisation built on a community of people who mutually support each other and provide a sense of understanding in a time when that seems impossible.

The Bereavement Care Volunteer is responsible for the development of local partnerships with healthcare providers across New South Wales and Australian Capital Territory.

The role will help develop important relationships with midwives and other healthcare professionals to ensure they are delivering a high standard of bereavement care and support. This will include the delivery of in-services to local hospitals, the chairing of the regional healthcare network and the promotion of Sands services and resources, including Charlee’s Basket.

The volunteer will work closely with the Regional Lead, the General Manager Bereavement Care and other Bereavement Care volunteers in other Sands regions.
