About the role
Australia Poetry (AP) is the national organisation for poets and poetry.
We represent poets and poetry to the community at large, publish a highly regarded poetry-only journal and anthology, curate events at both major and smaller writers’ festivals, manage a range of poetry prizes, conduct school programs and engage in many other activities that seek to secure poetry’s voice in our national discourse.
We are a small organisation housed in the Wheeler Centre in Melbourne’s arts precinct but operate nation-wide and supplement funding from Governments, or Government organisations, both Federal and State, by subscription and project income and a modest philanthropy program.
The Board sits at AP’s governance apex and is assisted by Committees with documented charters and a small but skilled and highly motivated Executive.
We are looking for two new Directors for our Board with qualifications and experience in one or more of the following – the law, accounting, finance, arts administration, business management, liaising with Governments and/or funding development.
You do not need to be a writer or reader of poetry or even an enthusiast for it, though we hope you will become increasingly interested in learning about it as an art form and its contribution to Australia’s artistic life.
If you are interested, please contact Martin Langford at firstname.lastname@example.org or Paul Scully at email@example.com.
