About the organisation
A national leader in the promotion and retention of Australian maritime heritage, the not-for-profit Australian Wooden Boat Festival (AWBF Inc.) holds a biennial, community-based festival regarded as one of the most significant events in the southern hemisphere.
About the role
AWBF Inc. is strategically managed by a voluntary Board based in Hobart. As the Chair of a skills-based Board you will have overall responsibility for the governance, leadership and efficiency of the organisation. Supported by a General Manager and a varying small staff complement, you will facilitate the functioning of the Board and effectively communicate with stakeholders including Government and sponsors. You will also need to build strong collaborative partnerships with a variety of organisations.
Have you been an executive or senior manager in business or events and highly regarded by a broad network of your peers? A person with presence and vision who is nimble and alert to growth and new opportunities for AWBF? High-level interpersonal and communication skills; commercial; strategic; corporate governance knowledge; a respect for diversity and inclusion – do these words describe you? High level experience with a major festival or event and an interest in maritime heritage would be well regarded.
