ABOUT SEA

Sports Environment Alliance (SEA) was established in 2015 to do more {for the world} with less {footprint} so people can continue to have places to play. SEA leads the sport industry’s engagement with the circular economy through education and inspiration for a more regenerative Australasia.

SEA is one of three alliances in the world (UK, North America, Australasia) which are leading the growing movement for environmental sustainability in, by and through sport.

SEA counts some of Australia’s leading sporting organisations as members, with membership growing annually. SEA’s profile and environmental credentials are highly valued with an engaged and action-orientated member and partner community.

SEA connects its members to the global network of others doing great work; it values partnerships and has a loyal group of Ambassadors who promote its purpose and influence their followers to take action.

SEA is building on the spectacular success of its first 5 years to continue to grow membership, partners and sponsors in order to effect change at all levels in the sport industry and  community.

Since the UN Sport for Climate Action Framework was released in 2018, we have seen a growing number of Australian signatories and more attention directed towards working collaboratively to make positive change.

The urgency has since increased with the release on 10 August 2021 of the IPCC’s latest report which is both a warning and an opportunity to galvanise a response to guarantee the future.
