About the role

Valued Lives Foundation Ltd is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified individuals to join the Board of Directors. The Valued Lives Foundation Ltd Board is responsible for the vision, strategy, governance, financial stewardship and risk management of the organisation.

The Board hold 10 regular meetings during the year as well as an annual planning day. Directors are expected to serve on at least one subcommittee, which meet quarterly.

As a peer-led Board, individuals with lived experience of disability are sought. Candidates with the following areas of expertise are preferred:

  • Governance
  • NDIS and disability sector
  • Government relations

Valued Lives Foundation Ltd is a peer-led community organisation in Western Australia. Founded in 2013, the organisation has grown from a small grass roots, start-up social enterprise, into a mature, highly respected organisation within the disability sector. This has been achieved through passionate leadership from the Founder and a user-led Board of committed individuals, families and staff.

Valued Lives is dedicated to supporting and enabling vulnerable people to live valued lives of their choice by delivering quality support, underpinned by supported decision making. The organisation has a strong commitment to promoting social inclusion and empowering vulnerable people to have real choice, real control and a genuine voice in the design, planning and delivery of their own supports and services.

Valued Lives works alongside vulnerable people to discover their strengths, unleash their capacity, as well as assist and encourage people to achieve their goals in a collaborative and flexible way.

Valued Lives and has built solid partnerships with like-minded peer-led organisations across Australia to build people’s knowledge, shift mindsets and strengthen values-based leadership and is a founding member of the National Alliance of Capacity Organisations (NACBO).

The organisation is registered with the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) and Department of Communities (Western Australia) and is a registered charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission (ACNC).
