About the role
Down Syndrome Queensland (DSQ) is a not for profit organisation formed in 1976 providing a variety of services from experienced and professional staff. DSQ is committed to ensuring that people with Down syndrome, their families and the people who work with and care for them are informed, empowered and supported. We work with families across Queensland.
Our organisation and our community face significant challenges with the introduction of the NDIS changing how people are currently supported and the level of support they receive. We are also focusing on growing support for our regional members and assisting everyone across a range of areas including education, health, employment and self-advocacy.
At DSQ we have three core values: Integrity, Passion and Inclusion. Our values express what we stand for and guide the way we do things. Our values are core to our business, and we align everything we do with them.
DSQ is pleased to announce we have an opportunity for a talented Director to join our Board.
Due to one long-standing Board member retiring and to position DSQ for further growth, we are seeking to appoint one new voluntary Board Member to join our experienced Board. DSQ has grown considerably over the last few years and has an ambitious strategy going forward, so there is a great deal more work to do.
The new Board member may come from a range of backgrounds and prior Board experience would be helpful but not essential. To ensure we provide strong regional support we are particularly interested in speaking to potential candidates outside of Brisbane as well as Brisbane based. The Board meets monthly via video call and two or three times a year for face to face strategy, planning and finance Board workshops.
How to apply:
If you have suitable experience and would like to make a positive difference to the lives of those with Down syndrome, please send your resume and a brief cover letter to DSQ Chairman David Fuller on email@example.com. Please also outline your motivation for applying for the role and the skills and personal attributes you would bring to the Board.
Please contact David at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions or for more details.
