Board Member – Balwyn Evergreen Centre

Balwyn Evergreen Centre is a not-for-profit community-based organisation committed to active ageing and providing older people with high quality programmes in a friendly, supportive, social environment. Balwyn Evergreen has been offering programmes to support older people living in their own home in Balwyn and surrounding suburbs since 1958. Services include planned activity groups, healthy exercises programs, social support programs, companion animal volunteers, clinical services, transport and independent living units.

Major government reforms in the way aged care services are provided is causing a transformation in the way BEC operates, in particular, the provision and management of care packages for a range of services to support a person in their own home.

The Board meets monthly (on the third Wednesday of the month from 5:30-7:00pm) and is the legal authority for ensuring the strategic direction and effective management of the organisation. BEC has vacancies for two Board members. BEC seeks Board members who will ideally have a passion for and a contemporary view of ageing and aged care, along with experience and/or an understanding of the requirements of organisations operating in the current aged care environment or the provision of health care for older people. BEC also seeks Board members with skills in marketing and public relations.
