Board Member – Brisbane

Opportunity for a visionary Board Member with the appropriate skills and passion to help children find their voice.

This progressive non-profit organisation runs a range of clinics, training services, and a school, supporting the 1 in 14 children across Australia with Language Disorder for the last 40 years.  SALDA’s team of therapists and teachers are experienced, committed and, most importantly, enjoy working with children to realise their full potential.

Led by a visionary and entrepreneurial Board and with a new strategic plan in place, we are ready to embrace the future. Great change brings great opportunity. As we continue to progress into the new world of the NDIS, the plan is to extend the reach of our services, without prejudicing the high standards of service delivery or the values underpinning them.

To that end, we seek to appoint two new Board Members with both general and relevant expertise in Education and/or Allied Health. The potential Board Members may be specialists with experience in transforming a grants-based charitable organisation into a business where sustainable sources of income enables it to compete in the newly commercial, non-profit (profit-for-purpose) landscape.

Ideally with previous Board experience, the applicant would have the  passion to guide the existing Board members and Executive Management Team to manage and drive change within the community services sector. It is anticipated the applicant will bring a strong belief in their own capabilities, a capable pair of hands, an unquenchable spirit and a strong sense of equality and social justice.

The Board’s commitment  is to advise, govern, oversee policy and direction, assist the Leadership Team and contribute to the work of appropriate committees that meet several times each year. The workload can be expected to run to about 2-4 hours per month.
