About the role

Who We Are

Lively is a start-up social enterprise based currently in Melbourne. Our vision is a world in which no young or older person feels unwanted or undervalued because of their age, and our mission is to connect generations, create meaningful employment for young jobseekers, and increase the connectedness and inclusion of older people in our community.

What We Do

We spark meaningful connections between generations by employing young jobseekers to provide paid help to older people who need a hand, and engaging older people to share knowledge, stories and experience as mentors for the young. Our founding service is a technology help service; employing young jobseekers to spend meaningful time with older people, helping them learn how to use the internet and technology to connect with friends, family, interests and information.

Who We Are Looking For

Lively is an early stage start-up entering an exciting period of growth. As we work to expand our services and social impact, we are seeking a number of board members with expertise to support our commercialisation, core fundraising and integration with aged care CDC reforms.

We are seeking a number of board members with expertise in one or more of the following areas:

• Commercialisation and growth, preferably including direct experience of scaling up businesses or social enterprises, and strong business development skills
• Organisational fundraising and expertise in accessing seed funding, including strong donor or investor networks
• Aged care sector expertise, including in-depth understanding of CDC reforms and aged care funding packages/aged care business models
• Social impact measurement and evaluation

We are currently incorporated as a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee with DGR status, but are exploring the possibility of establishing a proprietary limited entity to expand seed funding opportunities. An individual with experience of accessing both not-for-profit/philanthropic and business seed funding would be highly valued.

We seek a dynamic individual who is comfortable operating in the uncertain and ever-changing context of a start-up social enterprise, and who is excited by the opportunity to support our growth and development. The position will involve hands-on, practical engagement in Lively’s operations, and the board meets for two hours every six weeks.

For more information about Lively and this board position, please contact Anna Donaldson (CEO) via the contact details provided.

We look forward to hearing from you!
