About the role

OVERVIEW

Melbourne Youth Chorale’s (MYC) teaching philosophy is based on the teachings of Hungarian music Educator, Zoltan Kodály. He expressed the need to “open the soul to all peoples”, suggesting that, “If we want  to understand other nations, we first must understand ourselves. There is no better means for this than folk music. (Source: The Kodály Music Education Institute of Australia).

Offering weekly rehearsals, and small group music theory classes, free of cost, to young people 6-20 years from diverse backgrounds and abilities, MYC challenges its members to achieve music excellence and has produced some national award winning musicians.
