About the role
My name is Samantha (Samie) Coates. I am a Registered Nurse who works at Sir Charles Gairdner in Perth Western Australia. I am apart of an NGO in Lombok, Indonesia which was devastated and completely destroyed by earthquakes.
Peduli Anak fights for the rights of underprivileged children by providing shelter, legal aid, education, medical support, advocacy, and family care.
My role is to build a sustainable medical clinic within the organization.
I am enlisting the help of professionals to build a better healthier life for these children and their community. I need help setting up an ABN/ACN and registering us as an official NGO.
Since the earthquakes last year we have been working endless days to get the foundation rebuilt so these kids have a roof over their heads.
We are in the final stages of having the foundations of the clinic constructed.
We lost everything in the earthquake, and are in dire need of health care equipment. As well as medical aid we want to promote wellness by teaching yoga, meditation, art, psychology to name a few.
Our team is heading over on the 31st of July until the 9th of August to touch base, and then we will be permanently there between Perth and Lombok once the clinic is complete.
We hope to open up another foundation in the next couple of years, as the Department of Child protection in Lombok are putting pressure on us to take more kids. We can’t rebuild the foundation quickly enough to keep up with the demand.
I am coordinating and managing a team of doctors, nurses, allied health and psychologist. I have been funding myself to build this clinic in Lombok, which I cannot maintain.
