About the role
Unique opportunity for an adventurous accountant looking to gain international experience & build financial management capacity of this inspiring joint venture in Cambodia.
Our partner is a joint venture between 3 social enterprise partners who work to empower local women in Phnom Penh. As a new shop and joint entity, the group have asked for support in setting up the shop’s accounting system.
The 3 businesses include: a jewellery studio, which supports at-risk women through teaching skills in jewellery production; a knitware social enterprise working with marginalized communities to produce hand knit products; and their newest company producing weaving & crafts such as scarfs, throws and cushions using local materials, natural dyes and traditional methods. They provide opportunities to women from rural communities, training them in crafting design and techniques, small business management and Fairtrade practices.
Your Role
You will be based in their shared offices, working with their finance staff and operations managers. Following previous AfID volunteers, you will be helping the jewellery studio and knitware partners to improve their financial reporting processes, P&L, balance sheet, cash flow and budget reporting. The newest company do not yet have any formal accounting structure in place and need help establishing a simple and user-friendly system.
