About the Role
Immersed within the rich and ancient Cambodian culture, our partner is a global NGO based in Phnom Penh, providing health interventions to the poorest and most marginalised communities in Thailand, Vietnam and Laos, where the biggest health concerns are malaria and TB. Their work is focused on supporting ethnic minority groups and other mobile communities who are often neglected by the government and other sources of aid.
Our partner’s work is tailored to the countries they work in, where they provide culturally sensitive interventions that take into consideration both modern medicine and traditional practices. They help to build the capacity of local health services and empower communities to access their health rights.
However, the organisation is facing a difficult time right now, including experiencing a high turnover of financial and project staff. Most of the finance team are new this year and they are recruiting for a new Finance Manager. Therefore, they are looking for an experienced accountant to help them improve their bookkeeping and deliver financial training to local staff.
As the first AfID volunteer to support this partner in Cambodia, your role will begin with an internal review of our partner’s current financial systems, procedures and staff capacity before implementing your recommendations for best practice.
If you are a qualified accountant, seeking opportunities to make a difference, experience a unique culture and transition into the third sector, this could be the perfect place for you.
