About the role

Are you seeking a board position that genuinely affects positive change? Would you like to use your relationship development, networking and fundraising skills to directly impact the lives of disadvantaged children by working closely with a local NGO?
Cambodian Kids Can (CKC) has been operating for more than 10 years in Prey Veng, Cambodia. During that time, we’ve empowered hundreds of children and young adults through education, especially girls and women.
We are a small organisation with a dynamic and driven board. Your actions will have a direct impact on the lives of the children with whom we work. You will have the ability to create and lead real change by working directly with the local NGO to develop education programs and services in the Prey Veng community.
You will quickly get to know the people of Prey Veng and their stories; they are the reason why we commit our efforts to this region. You will also encounter lots of opportunities and challenges as the organisation transitions into the exciting next phase of its growth.
CKC operates two projects in Prey Veng.
• Mekhala House provides disadvantaged girls with a safe place to live and the opportunity to receive a comprehensive education through to university or vocational training; and
• Mekhala Learning Centre (MLC) is a computer, internet and English school for children from poor families. The MLC also has the largest free public library in Prey Veng.
We are looking for a passionate person who can work on developing our relationships with corporate partners and donors. An expert networker, you will devise and implement a strategy that sees us connecting with organisations and individuals, passionate about empowering through education. While you’re a strategic thinker with fresh ideas and growth strategies, you are also prepared to roll your sleeves up and work on day to day tasks.

So, if you like a challenge and want to be involved with a charity that makes a big impact, contact us. Almost 100% of all donations go directly back to the local projects as there are no paid staff in Australia.
