About the role

General duties
- Attend Board meetings to present a Finance Report to the Committee which will include bank balances and budget information relating to expected future expenditure
- Be a signatory to bank accounts and ensure all expenditure is approved by the Committee
- Pay bills and make purchases on behalf of the committee
- Issue invoices and receipts when required
- Keep records of all financial transactions, incoming and outgoing
- Provide all financial information required to the auditor annually in July
- Comply with the rules of the organisation as expressed in the CCOEI Constitution
Annual General Meeting duties (AGM is usually held in October or November each year). The Treasurer will present the Financial Statements at the AGM.
The approved applicant will be co-opted onto the Board in the Treasurer position.
About the organisation
The Communities’ Council on Ethnic Issues (CCOEI) is situated in the Eastern Metropolitan Region of Melbourne. The organisation commenced operation due to the needs of increased numbers of migrants and refugees arriving in the region in the 1980s. The region covers the local government areas of: Boroondara, Knox, Manningham, Maroondah, Monash, Whitehorse and Yarra Ranges
Our aims are to:
- Provide administrative and other support to the standing committee
- Influence public policy through advocacy, with the ongoing support of our partners
- Conduct forums and seminars in which information is shared with a variety of service providers
- Work with government and non-government organisations to identify service issues and improve service deliveries
- Establish and maintain networks between service providers through consultation and communication between them
CCOEI Committee members are valued volunteers manage the organisation. The Board usually consists of 8-10 members. The Treasurer is an executive member of the Committee of Management (Board).
