Location : Melbourne (Forest Hills)

Time required : 2-3 hours per week extra when there is a meeting or event

Duration of project : 12-24 months

About the role

Are you looking for a rewarding position in the Not for Profit sector that allows you to have a positive impact on the work we do to support migrants, refugees and other people from multicultural backgrounds?  If you live, work or play in the eastern region of Melbourne and are passionate about assisting you are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend Committee of Management meetings and Migrant Settlement Committee meetings
  • prepare related documents (reports minutes, agenda etc)

Note: Due to CoVid-19 meetings are currently held on Zoom, face-to-face meetings may resume after August 2022. In that case meetings will be held in Forest Hills

  • Basic administrative tasks including filing, dealing with correspondence (including emails), maintaining a Membership Register etc.
  • Other duties as assigned by CCOEI President (example helping with events, submissions for funding etc.)
  • Reports to the CCOEI President

 

Requirements:

  • Excellent computer skills (such as word, excel, publisher etc.)

About the organisation

Organisation name : Communities' Council on Ethnic Issues (Eastern Region)

The Communities’ Council on Ethnic Issues (CCOEI) is situated in the Eastern Metropolitan Region of Melbourne. The organisation commenced operation due to the needs of increased numbers of migrants and refugees arriving in the region in the 1980s. The region covers the local government areas of:

    • Boroondara
    • Knox
    • Manningham
    • Maroondah
    • Monash
    • Whitehorse
    • Yarra Ranges

Aims of the organisation:

    • Provide administrative and other support to the Migrant Settlement Commitee
    • Influence public policy through advocacy, with the ongoing support of our partners
    • Conduct forums and seminars in which information is shared with a variety of service providers
    • Work with government and non-government organisations to identify service issues and improve service deliveries
    • Establish and maintain networks between service providers through consultation and communication between them
