Our vision is that NMLL will be North Melbourne’s leading centre for the CALD Community, recognised for enriching and empowering the lives of the people it serves.

The Chair role requires good organisational skills, leadership ability and an understanding of how to manage meetings plus an ability to work with people of different backgrounds but with a common interest.

Previous experience as a chairperson is essential. Experience in a not-for-profit, community based organisation also desirable.

Role requires:

2. Ensure that the aims of the organisation are met and core values upheld.
3. Facilitate effective and collaborative committee meetings.
4. Focus the committee’s attention on matters of organisational governance and ensure an effective relationship with the General Manager is maintained.
5. Promote and represent the organisation in the wider community and maintain and build strategic partnerships at the higher levels of the public and private sectors.
6. Work closely and in tandem with the General Manager to attend special meetings and functions as deemed strategically appropriate.
