About the role

About the role

Cinespace Inc. is seeking to appoint a CPA as a new Committee member and to fill the role of Treasurer. The Treasurer leads the financial oversight of the organisation.

The Treasurer has oversight of the financial management of Cinespace, ensuring that Cinespace is working within regulatory and legal frameworks and an agreed financial plan. As Cinespace  is a small non-profit organisation currently run by volunteers (we have secured some triennial funding and are looking to engage an Arts Administrator to assist with day-to-day running of the organisation), the Treasurer must be prepared to engage with other Committee members, Arts Administrator and/or project officers on practical financial management issues. While the position could be quite hands on, we also currently have a volunteer book-keeper a few hours a week assisting with invoice checking.

The Treasurer shares responsibility and decision-making with other members of the Committee and it will therefore be an important part of the Treasurer’s role to ensure that other Committee members understand financial information that is being presented and the implications of this information.

We require a Criminal History check of an applicant for this role.

About Cinespace Inc.

Established in 2016, Cinespace Inc. is a non-profit incorporated association that supports the Victorian screen industry and Australian screen culture, ensuring that it is representative of the broader inter-cultural community. We work to create greater cultural diversity on screen and behind the scenes, working predominantly to offer skills, networks and opportunities to emerging creatives from culturally-diverse (including refugee and asylum seeker) and First Nations backgrounds.

Our vision is for a more representative screen culture, and through our work to contribute to social cohesion, opportunity and well-being.

We are about to embark on an organisational residency at Footscray Community Arts Cente for two years, and are also undertaking a strategic planning process to help us consolidate our activity moving forward from our early formation stage into a more sustainable future. We’re therefore looking for a Treasurer who will work with us on these plans and then to help us take these plans and strategy forwards.
