Committee Member, Sunrise Children’s Association Inc Australia

Sunrise Children’s Association Inc. (SCAI) works in the Child Protection, Education and Community Development sectors in Nepal.

It is a community development organisation, focused on breaking the cycle of poverty in the lives of disadvantaged children and families through education.

SCAI was registered as a not-for-profit, non-government charitable association in Australia in 2005, and as an International Non-government Organisation (INGO) in Nepal in 2007. We were endorsed as a Deductible Gift Recipient by AusAid and the Australian Taxation Office in 2010.

All of SCAI’s projects are run in partnership with local Nepalese Non-Government Organisations, to encourage the exchange of skills and knowledge with local groups working in affiliated areas.
SCAI and its NGO partners are non-political and non-religious.

Our three core strategies:
1. Preventing separation of children from their families, through empowering hundreds of at risk children and their families with education scholarships and livelihood support
2. Re-connecting and reintegrating children who have been trafficked, enticed or willingly sent from their homes back to their families and communities wherever possible, and supporting them in their homes
3. Providing residential home care for children unable to live safely with their own families, relatives, foster families or community care.

We are seeking a committee member with experience in the legal/governance areas, who can help maintain our organisation’s compliance and procedure.
