About the role
Atlas of Life – Budawang Coast NatureMapr started a year ago as a result of many people’s enthusiasm to learn more about the natural environment in our uniquely beautiful area, and the desire to record and share our observations of it. This project enables everyone with an interest or passion for the natural world to contribute to this important work of reference.
The aim of this project is to identify as many of the living creatures of this region as possible to help people explore and learn more about this place, and to provide an ever growing rich database of biodiversity information for locals and visitors, naturalists, other scientists and students. In November 2018, the NatureMapr collaboration won the Banksia Foundation Community Award. This is a home-based position but some travel involved.
To be considered for this role you must demonstrate:
Commitment to the Atlas of Life Budawang Coast Objects and citizen science
Awareness and appreciation of the natural environment and its biodiversity; and the necessity to accurately record and monitor this
Experience in community development and community consultation processes
Capacity to work with diverse stakeholder groups, including volunteer citizen scientists, project moderators, natural resource managers, government agencies and all related community organisations
A proven ability to perform general administration work including managing communications, media and social media, and events and overseeing the smooth functioning of the NatureMapr platform
