About us:
Paediatric Nursing Services (PNS) is a local Not-for-profit charitable organisation registered with the ACNC. Within PNS operates an innovative and highly effective program called Community 360 which offers a holistic and integrated approach to helping chronically, critically and terminally ill children, as well as children with special needs and their families. PNS provides seamless access to healthcare services, and are solely focused on the pledge of supporting these children and their families in Australia to ensure the best outcome possible.
About the role:
We are currently seeking volunteers, preferably with backgrounds in either Psychology/ Counselling/ Social work, Speech and language pathology, Occupational therapy, Physiotherapist, Dietician or Nursing (however, this is not essential) to join our team on Friday nights for approximately 1-2 hours between the hours of 1600 and 2100, depending on the specific role you take within the company.
For example: Those involved in the counselling session (Psych/ counsellor) will be required from 1600 to 1700, those involved in the Physical wellbeing session (Physio/ OT/ Nurse) will be required from 1700 to 1800 and those involved in the Development of daily living and life skills session (Speech pathologist/ Dietician) will be required from 1800 to 1900.
You will work along side and closely with other professionals within PNS to create and implement relevant activities and programs for the children, designed to promote health and wellbeing and improved daily living skills.
This is a great opportunity for students to gain experience in the field, those wanting a career change or even those with some spare time on their hands and want to make a difference in the community. Therefore, it is encouraged for all volunteers to stay at the clinic longer than these recommended time frames to assist in therapies of different areas to broaden your knowledge and experience of all sectors, however this is not essential.
Please register your interest with us and we will endeavour to respond to you at our earliest convenience to discuss this opportunity further.
