About the role

Aunties and Uncles Queensland is an early intervention and prevention program helping vulnerable and socially isolated children aged 1-11 years, within the greater Brisbane and Gold Coast areas.
The Aunties and Uncles program delivers practical support to referred families by linking children with a volunteer aunt and/or uncle, who fulfils the role of a positive mentor in the child’s life through the provision of a stable, nurturing and caring relationship over a minimum of 12 months.

Major responsibilities of Directors:
-Organisational leadership and advisement including strategic and tactical planning
-Oversight of program implementation and evaluation
-Organisation of the board of directors and committees.
-Chair and actively drive performance of the Fundraising, Marketing and Communications sub-committee, in line with that committee’s Terms of Reference
-Formulation and oversight of policies and procedures
-Financial management, including development and oversight of the annual budget and revenue raising strategies
-Workforce planning, development and evaluation
-Monitoring and review of organisational and program performance
-Promotion of the organisation
-Lead and identify opportunity for fundraising and advocacy opportunities for ongoing and recurrent funding opportunities.

Specific duties of the Fundraising, Marketing and Communications Committee Chair:
-Manage and oversee the work of the Fundraising Coordinator
-Contribute expertise to organisational fundraising, marketing, branding and communication plans and initiatives.
-Build on current brand and develop programs that will develop new fundraising opportunities.
-Develop and manage communications channels and web presences including, electronic/social media, newsletter, public relations, website and printed collateral.
-Maintain and build relationships with corporate partners and ambassadors.
-Oversee a consistent and active communication strategy to all stakeholders for the purposes of recruitment, program messaging, fundraising, awareness and branding.
-Identify new funding and grant opportunities updated information available from trusts, foundations, corporations and government organisations.

Meetings and time commitment:
-The board of directors meets on the second Monday of every month at 6.30 pm at the organisation’s premises at Fernberg Road, Paddington.
-Sub-Committees of the board meet an average of once per month and board members may be required to participate actively and attend the majority of sub-committee meetings.
-Board members are asked to attend special events or workshops, as they are determined, and likely to be on around 6 – 8 occasions each year.

-Participate on a committee of the board, and serve on ad-hoc committees as necessary.

-Help communicate and promote Aunties and Uncles (Queensland) to the community.
-Become familiar with Aunties and Uncles (Queensland) finances and resource needs.
-Understand the operating model, policies and procedures of the organisation.
