About the role
Background:
Based in the vibrant city of Guayaquil, our partner is a grassroot organisation supported by an international non-governmental organisation which campaigns to protect women’s rights to control their own fertility and provide access to sexual and reproductive health services.
This local partner is committed to promoting a society free from violence against women, children and young people and empowered to fully exercise their sexual rights and reproductive rights.
In 2015/16 they went through a difficult financial situation, which forced them to evaluate their future. As a result, they decided to let go of their Finance Manager at the time and leave the Financial Assistant to lead the finance function. For the last two years she has successfully led the team and implemented financial and accounting policies however Senior Management has identified that she needs support with financial analysis and controls.
Your Role
You will be the first AfID volunteer to support this local partner, following previous AfID support to the INGO’s other local partners in Panama, Guaetmala and in Quito, Ecuador.
They have asked for a Pro Bono Accountant to provide support and training to the Financial Assistant to build the capacity of the organization. The assignment would start with a review their accounting systems, processes and controls before making and implement your recommendations based on the resources available, the skills of the Financial Assistant and the context where they work.
They would also like your support with:
• Operational and Financial Processes
• Audit Planning
• Design and implementation of Expense Monitoring Systems, Monthly Reports and Automated
Budget Tracking
• Cost Analysis of services, points of service and projects
Length and Placement dates:
3 months from June 2018
